SYNOPSIS

Produced for Mental Health Awareness Week UK 2023, Kindness Starts at Home tells the story of Olivia, a young woman with an extraordinary musical gift who faces emotional neglect and bullying within her own family. Despite her talent and growing success, the lack of kindness and understanding at home leads her to anxiety, loneliness, and self-doubt.

The film explores how unkind words and family dynamics can deeply affect mental health, confidence, and belonging, while highlighting the importance of empathy, communication, and seeking help when struggling with anxiety or a toxic environment.

Ultimately, Kindness Starts at Home encourages us to reflect on how small acts of compassion — both at home and in school — can transform lives and create healthier, more supportive communities.

Mental health, anxiety, kindness, bullying prevention, and family dynamics. Kindness Starts at Home was produced for Mental Health Awareness Week UK 2023, whose theme was anxiety — one of the most common mental health problems we face, and one that small, everyday kindness can help ease.
