SYNOPSIS

As I Am is a powerful short film exploring the emotional toll of social media and the growing disconnect between our online identity and our real-life self-worth.

The story follows Jane, a young woman struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, and the pressure to appear perfect online. Through her experiences — from editing selfies and comparing herself to influencers, to facing rejection and humiliation — the film reveals how social media can distort body image, fuel self-criticism, and lead to feelings of isolation and despair.

Ultimately, As I Am encourages honest conversation about mental health, digital wellbeing, and self-acceptance in the age of filters and followers. It reminds us that authenticity, compassion, and connection are far more powerful than the illusion of perfection.

THE CAUSE

Mental health, self-worth, and the hidden dangers of social media. As I Am was created to mark Mental Health Awareness Week UK and to open honest conversations about digital wellbeing among young people.
